Spaced Repetition Learning

In the modern world, learning is becoming an integral part of everyday life. With the growth of information volumes and the complexity of tasks, there is a need for methods that allow you to effectively acquire new knowledge and skills. One of these methods is spaced learning, the main goal of which is to ensure long-term memorization of the material. WitSlice implements spaced learning using instant messengers to deliver educational materials.
What is spaced learning?
Spaced learning is based on the idea that information is better remembered if repetitions occur at certain intervals. This method is based on the forgetting curve, a concept that describes how information is forgotten over time if it is not reinforced through repetition. The main goal of spaced learning is to remind the student of the materials at moments when forgetting begins to become significant, which helps to strengthen the memory and improve long-term memorization.
How does the service work?
The service implements interval learning by automatically sending educational materials via instant messengers such as Telegram and Slack. The service's work process can be divided into several key stages:
Setting up a convenient time
At the initial stage, the user sets their preferences, including the time at which it is convenient for them to receive educational messages and the intensity of training. This allows the service to adapt to the individual schedule and rhythm of life of each student. By default, cards will be sent every hour, one at a time, from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. This interval can be changed in the profile settings in the "Notifications" section.
Interval generation
Based on the user's settings and the forgetting curve, the system automatically generates a repetition schedule. The intervals are calculated in such a way that repetitions occur at optimal moments when the information begins to be forgotten, but is not yet lost. Thus, each card will be sent to the messenger six times. The first time for review, the remaining four after 1 hour, 8 hours, 1 day, 2 weeks and 2 months.
Sending messages
Educational materials, including texts, images, videos in the form of cards, are sent to the user through the selected messenger in the form of messages. This approach ensures the availability of information at any time and in any place, which makes the learning process more flexible.
Benefits of using messengers
Convenience
Messengers are an integral part of everyday life, and receiving educational materials through them makes the learning process natural and unobtrusive. The user does not need to open additional applications or sites, all information is available in the environment familiar to him.
Flexibility
The user can choose when and where to study, which is especially important in a busy schedule. Messenger messages can be viewed at any convenient time, and notifications will help you not to miss an important repetition.
Personalization
Setting the time and intensity of training allows you to adapt the process to individual needs. This reduces the risk of overload and improves motivation, as training becomes part of the daily routine.
Thus, Witslice implements interval training through messengers, offering an effective and convenient way to learn new information. Automation of the process allows you to adapt the schedule to individual needs, and the use of messengers makes training available at any time and in any place. This approach can significantly increase the effectiveness of training and make it easier to memorize complex materials.
